Following these steps ensures your treatment performs at its highest level while keeping your skin healthy, balanced, and ready to glow.
7 Days Before Your Treatment
To ensure your skin barrier is at its strongest:
- Pause active ingredients unless your Skin Design London therapist advises otherwise (Tretinoin, Retinol, AHA/BHA acids, Exfoliating toners or pads) and vvoid any hair removal in the treatment area (waxing, laser, threading, depilatory creams).
- Apply SPF daily (SPF 30 or higher) to protect the skin and minimise sensitivity.
24–48 Hours Before Your Treatment
Keep skin calm and hydrated:
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure or tanning beds to reduce skin irritation and increased sensitivity.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Avoid intense heat exposure (saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga).
Day of Your Treatment
- Arrive with clean skin, free from makeup, SPF, or heavy skincare.
- Avoid applying any active skincare ingredients.
- If you have concerns or changes in your skin, please inform your SDL therapist prior to treatment.
Your post-treatment routine is essential for maximising long-term results.
Immediately After Treatment
Expect mild, normal responses such as:
- Slight redness or flushing
- Sensitivity or tightness
- These typically settle within a few hours to 24 hours.
We suggest that you:
Hydrate
Use gentle, nourishing formulas to support skin recovery:
- Sleeping Beauty Crème - soothes, hydrates, strengthens
- Designer Balm - for deeper nourishment if skin feels dry or tight
Sun Protection
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF
- Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 7 days
Gentle Cleansing
Cleanse with Face Bath to remove impurities without disrupting the skin barrier.
Please avoid:
- No active ingredients (retinol, acids, exfoliants) for at least 24 hours
- Touching your face unnecessarily.
- Intense workouts
- Saunas/steam rooms
- Hot showers
- Harsh scrubs or exfoliating devices
- Avoid makeup if your skin feels sensitive (optional but recommended for 12–24 hours)
